So, today I was supposed to announce the details of my 2019 Wedding Photography Giveaway.
But, first, let me tell you a story. Three days ago, I decided that I missed my portrait photography days when I’d occasionally give away a free session… just because it felt good. After obsessing about it for a day, I decided I could still do a giveaway for wedding photography. It’s all in the spirit of giving, right? I jumped over to my social media scheduler and scheduled a post to come out on the 25th. Two days. Two days would give me enough time to figure out how I wanted to do the giveaway and decide on how to choose the winners.
Then I thought about styling and how the first things to go on a small wedding budget are flowers and hair/make-up (two extremely important services that affect the final images).
… and put up the following post up on my personal FB page:
And then I waited…
What I thought was that MAYBE I’d get a hair and make-up artist just starting out looking to expand their portfolio… Or if I was really lucky… a florist. That was okay with me! Any donation would have been greatly appreciated.
And then…. something incredible happened.
In a space of 12 hours, an outpouring of amazingness from the local wedding vendor community started. A vendor here and a vendor there… all excited to make one special couple’s day spectacular. All incredibly talented professionals on the top of their game. And suddenly… we had the makings of an intimate wedding valued at over 20K! That’s right…
OVER TWENTY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!
Holy bananas!!
I’ve spent the last two days teetering on or full out crying ugly tears about the graciousness and giving of these local wedding vendors. Vendors who are booked solid a year prior. Who love what they do so much they want to give back by giving one lucky couple a wedding that is beyond their expectations! I am so overwhelmed, excited, and honored to be a part of this. I can’t even express it.
